Biography.

Zakaria Dinia is a Moroccan director and screenwriter. His work moves between documentary and fiction, grounded in intimate observation and a visual language that trusts silence as much as dialogue.

His documentary Echoes in Ephemeral Light won Best Moroccan Short Film at the Morocco Shorts International Film Festival and was selected for the Al Jazeera Short Film Competition. His film You Are Seen was selected at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen and the Rotterdam Arab Film Festival.

As a screenwriter, he has developed projects across short film, feature, and series formats, with a focus on Moroccan family life, unspoken inheritance, and the weight of geography on human relationships.

His formation includes the USC Middle East Media Initiative at USC School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles,  the CCM Short Film Writing Residency, the Arab-African Series Lab by Nouvelles Écritures in Tunis and an official selection for La Fémis Summer University in Paris.

That same sensibility extends to his work on set photography, making-of documentaries, commercials, and music videos. Spaces where the image still carries a point of view. 

He is based in Rabat/ Casablanca and is completing a master's degree in film and television directing at ISMAC.
